We are excited to share that Digital Fleet has enhanced the alert system architecture to improve performance and increase configurability. This update includes a full update of the alert delivery mechanism to provide greater reliability and more flexibility on when alerts are sent.
Here is a walkthrough of how to set up alerts:
Access Alerts
- Select the Alerts option on the settings page by clicking the gear icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
- Select an alert to edit or select the + to create a new alert.
General tab
The General tab allows for selection of an alert along with identifying which tag group or trucks it is associated with.
- Enter a Name to identify the alert purpose
- Select an Alert Type
- Bad GPS
- Alerts when a vehicle has a large number of GPS jumps. This will help identify instances of multiple devices improperly assigned to a vehicle or a device with unreliable GPS information.
- Broken Down Events
- Alerts when a driver selects the Broken Down truck status.
- DVIR Issues
- DVIR Issues Created
- An alert per issue will be sent when a DVIR draft is saved or submitted with defects identified.
- If multiple defects are selected multiple messages will be sent.
- DVIR Submitted With Issue
- An alert per DVIR will be sent when a DVIR has been submitted with defects identified.
- All defects for the submitted DVIR will be sent in one message.
- DVIR Issues Created
- ELD Malfunction
- Alerts when the system detects an ELD malfunction for an ELD truck.
- Emergency Events

- Alerts when the Gen X modem identifies the GPS antenna has been removed.
- Logged in Driver Hours
- Alerts when a driver has exceeded a user defined number of hours.
- Moving with PTO Engaged
- Alerts when the Gen X modem identifies the switch one connection is engaged when the vehicle is moving.
- Multiple Logged in Drivers
- Alerts when more than one driver logs into the same truck.
- Speeding
- Alerts when a vehicle exceeds a specific speed or goes a specified speed over the posted speed limit. To reduce excessive alerts, a minimum time exceeding the limits can be selected.
- Standstill
- Alerts when a vehicle has not moved for greater than the specified duration. To reduce excessive alerts, this alert can be set to only occur for specific ticket statuses.
- Ticket Events
- Alerts when a vehicle triggers a specified ticket event.
- Truck Events
- Alerts when a vehicle triggers a specified truck event.
- Water Added
- Alerts when a water added message quantity exceeds the specified number of gallons.
- Bad GPS
- Select appropriate tags as needed.
- The Truck Class dropdown allows selection of a truck class or individual truck.
Recipients tab
The alerts can be delivered through email or text messages dependent on preference. Add desired email addresses and phone numbers to the Email Recipients and SMS Recipients fields, respectively.
Schedule tab
The Scheduling tab allows for specifying the delivery interval for the alerts. For higher priority alerts there is a real time option while all other alerts are sent on a defined interval.
