Troubleshooting Bad Drum Rotation Data
The recording of numerous, faulty drum rotation events is often due to the drum rotation sensors and the magnets on the drum being misaligned. If the sensors cannot detect all of the magnets, then the Digital Fleet+ software will not be able to properly determine drum speed or direction, resulting in many "bad" drum rotation events. These bad events will improperly trigger Begin Pour and End Pour status, as well as potentially move job sites.
Items to inspect:
- Ensure all 12 magnets are securely attached to the top of the bolts of the drum. Use glue or silicon to secure the magnet to the bolt.
- Ensure the magnets are equally spaced.
- Ensure the drum rotation sensors are aligned with the path of the magnets, so that each magnet will pass approximately 1-3 inches in front of the sensor.
- Ensure that the drum rotation sensors are securely attached to the bracket.
- Ensure that the bracket is securely attached to the truck.
- Spin the drum, and ensure that the light on both of the drum rotation sensors blinks as the the drum spins. The light on the sensor will turn off when it detects a magnet on the drum, and turn back on when it no longer detects a magnet. The lights should blink rapidly when the drum is spinning.
- If the light does not blink, it means that the drum sensor is not working properly. Ensure the wiring is correct, and that the sensor is close enough to the drum to detect the magnets.
- Consider replacing the sensor if everything else looks correct, but the light still will not blink.
- While spinning the drum, enter Digital Fleet+ Diagnostics Mode in the DigiTrack application by clicking the DF+ icon in the upper right, and verify that DigiTrack is properly detecting the Drum Speed and Drum Direction.
