Avoidance Zones functionality

We are excited to share that Digital Fleet has added Avoidance Zones alerts to version 8.5.7 of the driver app. The Avoidance Zones alerts provide a critical alert to the driver app when entering an identified Avoidance Zone geofence. The critical alerts are displayed at all times (stopped or moving), are read out to the driver, and aren’t cleared until the driver acknowledges the alert.

These alerts can be used for road restrictions you want the drivers to know about or more generally to identify areas of importance for the drivers.

Driver App Critical Alert

When a truck goes into the geofence of an avoidance zone, the driver will be sent a critical alert while moving or stopped. The alert will stay visible until the driver acknowledges the alert.

Avoidance Zone Alerts report

In order to review the avoidance zone alerts, an Avoidance Zone Alerts report has also been created to display the triggering point, address, alert sent time, alert delivery time, and alert acknowledged time.

Setup

Create a new point class for Avoidance Zones by accessing settings --> Asset Management --> Points and selecting +Add Class

• Name:  Avoidance Zones
• Select an Icon
• Save

Create a Point (Geofence) on the map for an avoidance zone area.  For Point Type: select Avoidance Zones.

Create an Avoidance Zone Alert by accessing settings --> Client Management --> Alerts and select the +Add Alert option

Alert Configuration

General Tab:  

• Name*  Enter your preferred name for the alert
• Type*  Select Alert Type Avoidance Zone
• Points:  Select Class:  Avoidance Zones
• Trucks:  Class of trucks or specific trucks the alert should be sent to
• Add a check mark to Send Alert To Tablet (7.8.4 or later)
• Save when completed
